From October 14-17, 2024, we had the pleasure of organizing a unique event as part of the City-Region-Academia series titled “Microscopic Innovations: TESCAN Collaboration Network Meeting & Workshop,” within the framework of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The event was co-financed by the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia and made possible through the collaboration of Uni-Export Instruments Polska Sp. z o.o. and TESCAN Group a.s., under the patronage of the Polish Microscopy Society.

The first two days were dedicated to modern techniques in material analysis in life sciences and correlative microscopy in engineering materials. Participants had the opportunity to attend lectures from experts representing TESCAN Group a.s., Oxford Instruments, Oxford-WITec, and Technoorg Linda, and to take part in practical demonstrations of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), confocal microscopy, and X-ray tomography. The live demonstrations on research equipment at SPIN-Lab’s CMBM building sparked significant interest in advanced microscopy techniques.

The final two days focused on exchanging experiences among researchers from Poland and abroad, all part of the TESCAN collaboration network. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how advanced microscopy techniques drive scientific research and innovation.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their involvement and contributions to the success of our event!
