Week of Microscopy at SPIN-Lab!

24.09.2024 - 13:36 update 21.10.2024 - 11:55
Editors: jolantarajca

As part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 initiative, within the City-Region-Academia framework, we invite you to the microscopy workshops organized by the Centre for Microscopic Research on Matter, SPIN-Lab.

Understanding the factors that positively or negatively influence the behavior of matter through images interpretable by the human eye is one of the key research activities supporting humanity’s progress. With the continuous advancement of microscopy techniques, we are now able to record the structure of matter with atomic precision and explore the multiparametric relationships between properties and structure at the molecular level.

The aim of the workshops is to introduce participants to the integration of various microscopy research results, enabling the discovery of details in the structure of matter and correlating them with scientific and practical values. The workshop themes will focus on the latest research trends in the areas of biological soft matter (biomedical engineering, medicine) and organic-inorganic engineered materials (automotive, energy).

Participants will have the opportunity to work with imaging techniques such as confocal microscopy, X-ray microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Lectures will be delivered by scientists from international institutions as well as technical experts from Poland and abroad, who operate these advanced microscopes.

Our goal is to combine theory with practice in the field of correlative microscopy, focusing on well-defined research areas: biological soft matter and organic-inorganic engineered materials.

Those interested are welcome to send applications to: cmbm-spinlab@us.edu.pl

See you at SPIN-Lab!
