ABOUT US
Research projects conducted at the Institute are interdisciplinary and related to solid state physics, materials science, material chemistry, polymer chemistry and technology, electroceramic materials technology, technology of manufacturing, morphology, properties and applications of surface layer, as well as electrochemistry, which fall within the scope of materials engineering and materials science. They are conducted especially in the areas such as:
  • studies on the structure and properties of materials, including surface testing (metallic materials, biomaterials, shape memory alloys, polymeric materials);
  • electrochemical methods for obtaining and testing materials;
  • development and improvement of testing methods for atomic and electronic structure and material properties;
  • computer modeling of materials;
  • micro- and nanotechnology of ceramic materials.
The main goal of the research is to search for and interpret relationships between real microstructure, chemical composition of materials and their structural and functional properties, as well as to search for areas for their application. The Institute’s research activities are focused on innovation and supporting the socio-economic development of the region. It also applies to developing technologies for new functional materials.
