W swoich badaniach skupia się na problematyce związanej z kondycją i przyszłością państwa oraz ewolucji jego struktur terytorialnych w perspektywie globalizacji oraz metropolizacji. Bada metropolie jako złożone systemy społeczne będące źródłem kreatywności i innowacji.

His research mainly concentrates on issues related to the state’s and local structures’ future in globalisation, metropolisation and governance perspective. He studies the city and metropolis, including empowerment, decentralisation and the complexity and diversity of urban processes as source of creativity and innovation.
