Once upon a time, a fellowship of 17 people from faraway lands, together with their wise guide, set out on a journey towards Ojców… Well, actually it was on the 25th of June and it was more like a field trip, but the rest is true.

As a part of the Come2US project, another integration event for employees from abroad was organized. This time we decided to visit the Ojców National Park. Our excursion started in the past as we visited the Bat Cave (which was wonderfully cool on this hot Saturday), to listen to the story of how the water carved out the rock, and to learn about its animal inhabitants over the centuries.

After coming out of the cave we were brought by bus to the Castle in Pieskowa Skała. We saw the rock called “Hercules’ Club” and took a photo to remember this day. Then, together with our guide we travelled back in time again to learn about the history of the castle. The guide told us about the historical background of the castle and about the many exhibits displayed in its chambers – the furniture, the china and the paintings. We learned many interesting facts.

After these journeys in time and captivating stories we were a little hungry so we went for dinner to one of the local restaurants which served trout “Ojców style”. We ordered it and it definitely exceeded our expectations 😊 Then, after a short walk, we had to return to Katowice, looking forward to more excursions in the near future.

For the 17 participants of the event, who come from 9 different countries, the excursion was a great opportunity to meet one another, to learn about Polish culture and to relax in a natural setting which is particularly beautiful at this time of the year.
