After the long May weekend, together with the employees from abroad we have been at the integration excursion organized as a part of the Come2US project. Among our employees from abroad there are no astronomers, so we decided to take them to the Planetarium – Silesian Science Park in Chorzów.

Regardless of the rainy weather all participants of the excursion reached the entry of the Planetarium – our meeting point – on time. After introductions we went to see the screening „We Are Stars”.  Before the screening we could also see the night sky and constellations visible in different seasons.

After the screening, with the English-speaking guide the participants saw the „Geophysics” exhibition where the seismological and meteorological phenomena are presented.  While seeing the exhibition our employees from abroad could experience the simulation of an earthquake and witness the creation of clouds and rainfall.

The additional attraction were the Jedi maters and other characters strolling through the corridors of the Planetarium. On the 6th May the Silesian Science Fiction Festival – Cosmicon was taking place. So we can say that our integration meeting was really an otherworldly experience 🙂

After our journeys in space and on Earth it was time for dinner in Restauracja Łania (Polish “Łania” means “ a deer”) Łania restaurant is an elegant restaurant with long history and traditions. Its origins are closely connected with the Silesian Park and our region in general. After listening about the history of the place the participants of the excursion ate the delicious dinner and shared their experiences to meet each other better. The excursion to the Planetarium – Silesian Science Park was the last integration meeting organized as a part of the Come2US project financed by the National Agency of the Academic Exchange.
