International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy, 1st and 2nd cycle studies

Language of instruction: Polish

Specialists in political science and diplomacy have a real impact on the shape of the world, especially if they work within international structures. Thanks to the experienced team of specialists, the degree programme ‘International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy’ provides the necessary knowledge and skills, including learning languages. Apart from the research and didactic employees of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia, the classes are conducted by experts who work for international institutions, government administration, and diplomatic missions on a daily basis.

The students master political science supplemented with issues of law, economics, sociology, history and psychology. They become fluent in English and learn the basics of French and Spanish from scratch, with an emphasis on specialised vocabulary in the field of international relations, public administration and diplomacy.

The students will have two majors to choose from: 

Government administration and diplomacy (lectures and classes are conducted in Polish and English), and

Leadership in International Relations (lectures and classes conducted entirely in English).

Graduates are prepared to work in:

  •       government administration, 
  •       civil service,
  •       polish diplomatic posts, international institutions and organisations, including European ones. 

2nd cycle studies in ‘International Studies of Political Science and Diplomacy’ guarantee the highest competences for independent work on responsible positions in Polish and foreign public administration units and diplomatic representation.

The studies provide highly qualified research and didactic employees of the University of Silesia and external experts. Studies are conducted in Polish and English. The curriculum also includes compulsory classes in French and Spanish from beginner level. The student will also visit international institutions and state administration institutions. 

All this will help the graduate to work in:

  •       international institutions and organisations, 
  •       European institutions, 
  •       diplomatic and consular posts,
  •       government administration and civil service.

The programme also allows students to continue their education at the National School of Public Administration or the diplomatic and consular application.
