Social benefits
Employees of the Silesian University are entitled to a variety of social benefits, including:
- bonuses for holiday and recreation benefits, including children’s holidays, employees’ annual leave holidays, and summer holidays for retirees/pensioners – former employees; these benefits may be granted to an employee no more than once per year (the so-called “Holidays under the Pear Tree”),
- bonuses for the costs of stays at sanatoriums or preventive and therapeutic holiday resorts, granted to an employee no more than once per year,
- financial assistance for employees in a particularly difficult life, family, or financial situation, or in the event of unforeseen circumstances, granted no more than once per year,
- housing loans,
- subsidies for training courses and university studies,
- subsidies for the University holiday resort in Szczyrk

Academic Sports Association (AZS)
Employees have the opportunity to join the Academic Sports Association (AZS), a university sports organization that offers the chance to take part in a wide range of sports and recreational activities on preferential terms.

Insurance
In addition to the compulsory health and social insurance to which all employees are subject, there is also the option of additional paid insurance provided by PZU.
Special discounts in NOSPR
In the 2025/2026 season the National Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Radio (NOSPR) offers to all students and employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice a special discount for the selected concerts.
Under the link available on here you can find a code that decreases the ticket price by 30% if purchased online (places – depending on the available places at a given concert).
