W kwietniu 2025 roku Wydział Humanistyczny Uniwersytetu Śląskiego w Katowicach, wraz z Zespołem badawczym Trans-Indigena, będą gościć Cheryl Suzack, pochodzącą z Pierwszego Narodu Batchewana, profesorkę anglistyki, studiów nad ludnością rdzenną, oraz nauk prawnych na University of Toronto w Kanadzie. Jej interdyscyplinarne badania koncentrują się na literaturze indygenicznej, a szczególnie na twórczości kobiet pochodzenia rdzennego, w kontekście systemów prawnych Ameryki Północnej oraz indygenicznej wiedzy prawnej.
3 kwietnia, o godz. 11:45, w sali 0.51, na Wydziale Humanistycznym w Sosnowcu, prof. Suzack wygłosi otwarty wykład pt. „Thresholds of Difference within Indigenous Women’s Activism, Or How Indigenous Women Use Culture to Combat State Violence and Restore Community.”
Poprowadzi również dwa seminaria na temat “Indigenous Peoples and Climate Justice: Storying the Activism of Indigenous Human Rights Defenders.”

In April 2025, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia in Katowice, along with the Trans-Indigena Research Team, will host Cheryl Suzack (Batchewana First Nations), Professor of English & Indigenous Studies, Faculty of Arts & Science and Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto in Canada. Her research focuses on American and Indigenous law in the context of Indigenous literature, with a particular emphasis on the writing by Indigenous women.
On April 3rd (Thursday), 11:45, lecture hall 0.51, Sosnowiec, Faculty of Humanities Prof. Suzack will deliver on open lecture entitled: „Thresholds of Difference within Indigenous Women’s Activism, Or How Indigenous Women Use Culture to Combat State Violence and Restore Community.”
