Polish Studies

The Polish Studies degree programme allows you to gain knowledge about the Polish language, the history of literature and contemporary cultural phenomena and changes. It teaches independent intellectual activity, an in-depth understanding of messages and texts, with particular emphasis on literary texts. The studies prepare for active participation in literary culture and for reflective perception of changes in contemporary language, norms, methods and channels of communication.

Education in the field of Polish Studies serves not only to provide professional knowledge within literary studies (e.g. literary theory or poetics), linguistics (contemporary grammar or culture of the Polish language) and related disciplines (e.g. history, philosophy), but above all – it teaches a creative attitude towards the world, cultural and literary tradition and contemporary times. During the studies, we emphasise the consequences of cultural and technological changes for language and literature, as well as the connections of the latter with other areas of socio-cultural life.

A rich offer of majors responds to the needs of the job market, taking into account regional specificity.
