Political and public counselling, 1st cycle studies

Public and Political Counselling is the only such degree course in the offer of Polish universities. It combines knowledge in the political science, journalism and psychology as well as practical skills of self-presentation, teamwork and public appearance. During your studies you will get to know the basics of voice emission, techniques of creative thinking, basic mechanisms of social influence, methods of public opinion polls and mechanisms governing the choices and behavior of voters. You will design, conduct and present research results yourself. You will also learn how to create political advertising, how to perform well in a debate, and how to convincingly communicate with different audiences (voters, customers and NGOs).

 

What makes us different?

  • We are the only such degree course in Poland that teaches politics in practice.
  • We do not want a large number of students, but high quality of studies.
  • We approach each student individually – you are not anonymous to us; we know your strengths and weaknesses, so we try to help you develop your passions.
  • Classes are also conducted by practitioners (media workers and local politicians).
  • During the course, students not only gain knowledge, but also practical skills (creating election spots, organizing debates, appearing in front of the camera, photography, conducting political talks, creating podcasts).
  • The studies offer many additional activities – meetings with politicians, political debates, activities in the Political Counseling Science Club (organization of conferences, student research projects, student publications, research camps), cooperation with other universities and research trips (also abroad).

 

Where do our graduates work?

Our graduates successfully work in: public institutions (including deputy and senatorial offices), non-governmental organizations, local, regional and national election committees. They deal with: Public Relations, political and image consulting, creating marketing strategies, supporting social media as well as planning, coordinating and implementing marketing activities. They also run their own image consulting companies.

 

What can our graduates do?

After graduation, graduates are able to:

  • think creatively, work in a group and consciously build your own image;
  • build the image of political parties and politicians as well as create and manage political brands;
  • independently design and organize research to check the effectiveness of social and political campaigns;
  • skillfully plan and implement marketing strategies, evaluate the advertising and election materials, taking into account the target audience (market segmentation).

Political and public counselling, 1st cycle studies

Political and Public Counselling programme is based in social sciences. The programme is positioned in both theoretical (essential knowledge of political sciences, journalism, and philosophy) and practical settings. Political and Public Counselling combines general knowledge of the mechanisms defining the functioning of contemporary states, ideas and intellectual trends that influence development of societies and the organisations created by those societies, as well as practical skills to design communication strategies and research political trends.

Employment prospects:

Graduates of 1st cycle studies in Political and Public Counselling are prepared for employment in public institutions, parliamentary offices, political organisations, local government units, especially in terms of planning and implementing social and political campaigns and planning media campaigns. They can also find employment in public relation agencies, as well as pursue careers as spokespersons, public opinion analysts, political image consultants, election committee managers and staff members. They can also work as political coaches and instructors in training companies. The practical and theoretical classes conducted within the framework of the studies provide students with an opportunity to pursue the increasingly popular profession of a king maker.

Upon graduating, graduates are able to independently design and organise diagnostic research on social and political campaigns and measure their effectiveness. They effectively plan and implement marketing strategies, along with independently designing modern advertising and electoral materials (posters, leaflets, spots and multimedia materials) and selecting media for such materials, while taking into account the target audience (performing market segmentation). In addition, graduates are able to build an image for a political party and politicians as well as to create and manage political brands. The skills and competences acquired by graduates also make them suitable for founding their own political consulting and advising companies.
