I Ukranian- Polish Interdisciplinary Seminar (I UPIS or Seminar) is the result of long-term cooperation between the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the University of Silesia in Katowice. In 1994, the rector of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Prof. Ivan Vakarchuk and the rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice Prof. Maxymilian Pazdan signed an agreement on scientific cooperation between the Universities.
Since 1995, the Institute of Materials Engineering of the University of Silesia in Katowice and the Departments of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University have been cooperating on the topic of amorphous alloys and the study of their properties.
The purposes of the Seminar are: to be a scientific platform for the presentation and discussion of scientific research; exchange of scientific ideas and experience in the field of chemistry and materials science.
