The Europa-Institut at Saarland University is the second oldest institution of its kind in Europe. For more than seven decades, the Europa-Institut has been  educating young academics from all over the world in European and international law.

Key Facts:

  • One year program in European and International Law – Erasmus students welcome! As an Erasmus student you can attend some lectures at the Europa-Institut and come back later for the LL.M. program
  • You will meet 75 students from all over the world
  • Highly qualified lecturers will teach you in European and international law and prepare you for the specific demands of the European and international job market
  • We are in close distance to cities of European and international importance – Brussels (4 hours via train/bus/car), Paris (2 hours via train), Berlin (1.5 hours via plane), Strasbourg (2 hours by bus/car), Luxembourg (1 hour), The Hague, Frankfurt, Geneva etc.
  • We support our students in all matters regarding not only the academic program but also the organization of your daily life – from the visa application process to such matters as finding accommodation, health insurance, matriculation, fees and financing etc. as well as during your studies here at the Europa-Institut
  • Course program is entirely in English, some courses can be taken in German
  • We are in touch with Europe – our alumni are in top positions in European and international organisations, businesses, law firms, academia and national governments
  • Study fees: 6,800 Euro (3,400 Euro per semester – for Erasmus students only after they have finished their studies at home and at the moment they want to have the LL.M. title)
  • Saarbrücken is a safe city with affordable living costs (700 Euro per month)
