We are pleased to share that Jakub Zwierzchowski, LLM 法大, a fourth-year Phd student at the Doctoral School of the University of Silesia, has been awarded a Max Planck Society scholarship.
The Max Planck Society scholarship provides essential financial support for young researchers, covering the costs of their research stay at one of the Society’s renowned institutes. In addition to funding, it provides access to world-class facilities, a dedicated workspace, and an intellectually stimulating environment.
Jakub Zwierzchowski’s research interests concern the intersection of private law and sustainability and comparative Chinese law. The scholarship will enable him to spend a two-month research stay at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. During his stay, Mr Zwierzchowski will carry out a project entitled ‘Ecological law of obligations’. The project’s premise is inspired by the ecological general clause under Art. 9 of the Chinese Civil Code (CCC). The generality of Art. 9 CCC allows for the incorporation of pro-environmental values into civil law relationships.
