The Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice is a rapidly developing institution open to international cooperation and striving to attain the highest international scientific and educational standards.

Faculty members are highly regarded experts who combine scientific knowledge with legal practice. Among the employees of the Faculty are judges, government employees, tax advisors and attorneys. Professor Maciej Szpunar holds the position of First Advocate General at the CJEU.

The research carried out by our employees addresses current scientific problems, including human rights, protection of real-estate owners, artificial intelligence, international litigation and arbitration, animal protection and sustainable aspects in public contracts.

Researchers of our Faculty conduct international cooperation in public international law, EU law, criminal law, civil and commercial law, constitutional law, theory and philosophy of law, and public procurement law.

The Faculty also offers education in English in the area of International Business Law and Arbitration, as well as selected courses in English and German. We develop students’ practical skills by creating an environment for the creative exchange of ideas.

The Faculty of Law and Administration has 142 academic employees, PhD fellows 48 and 24 administrative employees.

The Faculty is located in the center of Katowice and the Silesian metropolitan area. The Faculty building is located close to two airports: Kraków – Balice and Katowice – Pyrzowice. In the immediate surroundings of the Faculty, there are several hotels, cultural institutions and the International Congress Centre.
