ICRK “C4RE talks” | Competences and Innovativeness of Universities

“Competences and Innovativeness of Universities” is the title of the second part of the C4RE talks series, in which Prof. Martin Euwema from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) takes up the topic of the relationship between the competences of university staff and its innovativeness.

Participating in the conversation are experts and scientists from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Staff Development: Prof. Barbara Kożusznik, Director of the Centre, Katarzyna Więcek-Jakubek, and Grzegorz Filipowicz, PhD.

Prof. Martin Euwema is one of Europe’s most prominent specialists in the field of competence building, especially in the context of intrapreneurship and social dialogue. He holds the title of Full Professor in Organisational Psychology, is Head of the O2L research group (Occupational and Organisational Psychology and Professional Learning) and Co-Director of the Leuven Center for Collaborative Management. His research interests are leadership, change, human resource management, labour relations, conflict management, and mediation. He has taught at various universities and business schools all over the world. He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Copenhagen, Beijing Institute of Technology, and the University of Sevilla. He has over 30 years of experience as a consultant and mediator. His research focuses on: coping with stress and interpersonal conflict in the workplace, combining work, education, and private life in physical, digital, and virtual environments, working in a team, promoting intrapreneurship, dealing with difficult managers, developing personal competencies in building a safe and pleasant work atmosphere, soft skills, and the topic of women in managerial positions. Prof. M. Euwema published more than 150 articles and 15 books. His academic contributions have earned him the Wei Lun Distinguished Visiting Professorship, the most prestigious award at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is also a co-founder of the Leuven Center for Collaborative Management (LCM) and patron of the LCM-Student Association, an interdisciplinary group focused on developing competences in negotiation and conflict management.

The “C4RE talks” (Comptences for Research Excellence) series consists of presentations, talks, and meetings with renowned experts from all over the world who specialise in building and developing competences. The series is implemented as part of the activities of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Staff Development.
