INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

T4ERI

We collaborate with the six universities that make up the prestigious European university Transform4Europe. As part of the “Transfer for Europe Research and Innovation” project, we will identify the challenges faced by research team leaders and support staff. Our efforts aim to establish the Academy of Leadership, a virtual unit that will take the research team leaders of the T4EU universities under its wing.

OWN PROJECTS

ICSD

Grafika: doskonałość

The “ICSD – think tank for the development of key competencies of the Polish academic staff of the future” project is intended to develop a concept of the development of key competencies of research staff and administrative support staff in the science and higher education sector in Poland, which can contribute to strengthening the position of Polish universities on the international arena. As part of the project, a special tool was developed in 2021, thanks to which a survey of key competencies of staff at 10 selected universities is currently being conducted.

FLOW

The project entitled “Flow and effectiveness in virtual teams” aims to investigate factors influencing the effectiveness of virtual teams. Team flow is of particular interest to us. With the developed tools, we want to capture the dynamics of the processes that take place during teamwork.

Professor Józef Pieter (1904-1989) was the first to express the idea of establishing the University of Silesia in Katowice. His bust can be found in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia, in the auditorium named after him. A visit to Poland by Danuta Pieter, the Professor’s granddaughter, inspired the creation of a project aimed at reminding the young generation of the professor’s students and the main ideas of his research and works, which have not become obsolete. We are currently analysing the Professor’s works; a summary of these activities will determine the further direction of the project.

“C4RE talks” cycle

Competence development and its importance on the path to research excellence – this is the subject of the “C4RE talks” cycle implemented by the ICSD. Scientists and practitioners from Polish and foreign research centres, with many years of experience in competence management, will share their expert knowledge. They will not only present the results of the latest research, but also take part in interviews with members of the ICSD team.

COOPERATION WITH THE REGION

The University of Silesia in Katowice hosted Prof. Martin Euwema from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), who conducted a series of meetings: a specialist seminar, open lectures, specialist lectures, and individual consultations carried out with the University of Silesia authorities and employees responsible for staff development policy. The meetings were held as part of the “Building competencies of future – intrapreneurship and social dialogue” project, implemented from the Metropolis GSM’s ‘Metropolitan Science Support Fund’ programme. The whole initiative received content-related support from the ICSD.
