Research conducted in the laboratory focuses on the comprehensive development, processing, and characterisation of materials produced by powder metallurgy methods. The facility supports the implementation of a complete technological cycle – from powder preparation and weighing, through milling and homogenisation, forming and sintering, to the final characterisation of the obtained materials. Within available infrastructure, it is also possible to conduct research on casting and heat treatment processes, supported by equipment that allows precise control over each stage of processing. The laboratory provides a fully integrated research environment, enabling the development of new materials and technologies in the field of powder metallurgy

The laboratory is equipped with:

  • A complete titanium and other metals induction casting system, consisting of an Enterprise UltraCast induction pressure casting machine, a SNOL resistance muffle furnace, and a MIKROBLAST DUO dual-chamber sandblaster – enabling precision casting and processing of metals and alloys under controlled laboratory conditions.
  • SNOL 3/1100 LHM01 electric laboratory furance – a muffle furnace designed for heat treatment of materials up to 1100°C; used for processes such as quenching, annealing, normalising and drying; the furnace can operate in protective gas atmospheres (argon).
  • Fritsch Pulverisette 7 premium line planetary mill – a high-performance mill designed for rapid and precise grinding, mixing, milling, and homogenisation of hard, brittle, and fibrous samples, in dry or wet conditions, and under inert gas atmospheres.
  • Retsch CryoMill cryogenic grinder – a benchtop ball mill designed for cryogenic grinding using liquid nitrogen, enabling efficient pulverisation of thermally sensitive and elastic materials in a short time.
  • Fritsch Analysette 22 NeXT Nano laser particle size analyzer – an advanced instrument for determining particle size distribution in powders, suspensions, and emulsions using the laser diffraction (static light scattering) method; it provides a wide measurement range suitable
for both micro- and nanoscale analysis.
  • Steinberg 200G precision laboratory balance – a scale designed for weighing samples up to 200 g with a readability of 0.001 g.
  • Steinberg roller mixer/sieve shaker – a device for mixing samples in test tubes or other laboratory containers, equipped with 7 rotating rollers.
  • Keyence VHX-S770E digital microscope – an advanced digital microscope with multi-angle observation capability, featuring a motorised XYZ stage and automated Z-axis focusing. The system offers high resolution and depth of field, 3D imaging, precise 2D/3D measurement functions, and image stitching for large-area observation.
  • Contact angle analyser with Delta Optical NXZ-10D microscope + DLT-CAM 12M camera – a system designed for precise observation and measurement of the contact angle of liquid droplets on sample surfaces, enabling detailed studies of wettability
