Prof. Wojciech Waleczek, DSc, PhD

Prof. Wojciech Waleczek, DSc, PhD – pianist, chamber musician, pedagogue, and professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice.

He graduated with distinction from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in 2003, where he studied piano under Prof. Zbigniew Raubo. He continued his education in postgraduate studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music under Prof. Lee Kum-Sing. In 2014 and 2017, he obtained the degrees of Doctor and Doctor Habilitated of Musical Arts at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, and in 2022 the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him the title of Professor of Arts in the discipline of musical arts.

Wojciech Waleczek is an artist known for his uncompromising approach to performance. Born in 1980, he has been active as a concert musician for over twenty-five years, giving piano recitals as well as symphonic and chamber concerts in 27 European countries, as well as in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Palestine, Algeria, Kenya, Seychelles, Iran, Iraq, Tunisia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana, Canada, and the USA.

He has performed as a soloist with the philharmonic orchestras of Bydgoszcz, Kalisz, Katowice, Kielce, Koszalin, Lublin, Łódź, Opole, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Wałbrzych, Wrocław, Zabrze, as well as with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Capella Bydgostiensis, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra in Kraków, the Polish Orchestra “Sinfonia Iuventus,” the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova, the Amman Symphony Orchestra, the Kaposvár Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Brest Academic Drama Theatre, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre in Brasília, the Paraná State Symphony Orchestra in Brazil, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan.

The pianist has received awards and scholarships from the Prime Minister of Poland, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the mayors of Katowice and Gliwice, the Silesian Regional Assembly, the Rector of the University of Silesia, and many other institutions.
