First steps after employment

Dear New Employee, now that you have arrived in Poland there are a few important things you need to do. Below please find a short list with directions:

REGISTRATION OF YOUR PLACE OF STAY

Everyone who lives in Poland should remember that they are obliged to register their place of permanent residence. You need to do it not later than on the 30th day after arrival to Poland – if you are:

  • a citizen of the European Union (EU) member state or a family member of such a citizen,
  • a citizen of a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or a family member of such a citizen.

No later than on the 4th day after arrival to Poland – if you do not belong to this group.

The application for permanent residence registration can be filled in every City Hall. No prior registration is needed.

You need to take your passport and the rental agreement or other document confirming your right to live at the particular address. The document must be valid for minimum one month from the date of your registration.

If you change your address you need to go to the Town Hall to update the information on your residence.
