Historical Tourism

The degree programme is intended for people who associate their future with cultural institutions or companies that need specialists with profound knowledge of the past. Graduates can take up professional work related to the growing market of ‘active tourism’: as tour guides, specialists in the field of public history (history in public space), able to incorporate historical traditions and cultural heritage in their work, e.g. projects of museum exhibitions or organisation of events with a historical context.

Public history

The studies are aimed at acquiring basic knowledge about the past and using it in practice, which is useful for work in the broadly understood sector of public history. They are perfect for everyone who wants to improve their qualifications in popularising, planning, and organising trips and projects based on historical heritage.

The study offer meets the market demand for such specialists, prepared to work in the field of the so-called historical tourism. The proposed courses also include field classes, allowing for immediate verification of the acquired knowledge. It also allows students a lot of freedom, for example when choosing the topic of the diploma thesis.

Students can deepen and verify the acquired knowledge and skills by participating in projects, research trips or classes conducted outside the walls of the Institute of History. They can also develop their competencies thanks to the Erasmus+ international exchange programme

The studies are only available in the full-time mode.
