History

This degree programme is addressed to the individuals who wish to work as archivists, teachers or self-government/administration employees, in the units that need specialists with in-depth knowledge of the past for the implementation of their activities.

Studies in this degree programme allow students to obtain knowledge concerning the events and processes from the past of Poland and the world (from the ancient times to the 20th century), but also to understand the past and its impact on the present and future (e.g. notice causal relationships or predict the consequences of events) and develop a number of skills (e.g. creating projects that take into consideration the historical context).

Thanks to the contents from other disciplines taught, classes in the degree programme allow students to equip the graduates with a catalogue of general competencies in the field of humanities and social sciences (e.g. philosophy, sociology and political science).

A large number of classes taking into consideration the individual interests of participants (especially in the course of 2nd cycle studies) allows the students to develop their predispositions and form their individual intellectual and research activities, as well as prepare for proper reception of cultural output and active participation in its creation.

The students can deepen and verify the obtained knowledge and skills by participating in projects, research trips and classes carried out outside the premises of the Institute of History. They can also enhance their competencies thanks to the Erasmus+ international exchange programme.
