Mediterranean Studies
Studies in the culture, literature, and history of the Mediterranean, i.e. the countries of the Mediterranean Basin.
It presents the development of the most important civilisations of the region, with a special emphasis on ancient and medieval times.
Students gain knowledge of the Mediterranean by participating in classes covering literature, art, history, and more specialised issues concerning family history, sexuality, and the role of animals in Mediterranean cultures. Classes on Mediterranean cuisine and wine culture are an attractive complement to the above-mentioned issues.
The studies allow students to gain knowledge of how the ancient traditions function in modern times (antiquity in cinema, in popular culture).
Italian and Greek language
Intensive study of one of the languages of the area (Italian or Spanish) and learning the basics of ancient Greek and Latin are also part of the programme.
The studies are conducted in full-time mode only.
