Promotional and Crisis Communication

A practical degree programme

of a humanistic nature, aimed at shaping students’ practical skills in multidimensional social communication. It was created in response to the real needs of the contemporary labour market, where appropriately prepared advocacy, negotiation, and promotion-related staff are in demand.

The studies develop the ability to conduct and shape relations between entities functioning in the public sphere through well-planned social communication. Students of the Promotional and Crisis Communication degree programme learn about such issues as advertising, marketing, self-promotion, negotiation, and mediation. They learn the theoretical and practical rules to resolve tense situations and social conflicts through proper negotiation processes.

An advantage of the studies is the diversity of the addressed issues and the presentation of promotional, negotiation, and image communication activities in a broad social context.

We educate people who are courageous, creative, and open to the needs of 21st century society. They are aware of the importance of the word, which, if used properly, can turn out to be a cure, but can also cause illness and crisis, can help create as well as threaten the social order. We teach how to solve conflicts, negotiate, and, above all, better understand the world, oneself and other people through good communication.

The studies are conducted in full-time mode only.

Programme catalogue – curriculum

1ST CYCLE STUDIES

The curriculum of the Bachelor’s degree programme includes courses that form the basis of multidimensional education in the field of promotional and crisis communication, as well as specialist courses relating to marketing and advertising, image consulting and negotiation, and mediation.

During the course of study, students also have a choice of area-specific modules linked to the university’s extensive offer, presenting a variety of academic and erudite content. During the last two semesters, students complete a diploma seminar and write a Bachelor’s thesis.

Promotional and Crisis Communication is a practical degree programme, which means that some of the classes are taught by people whose professional work is related to, among other things, promotion, public relations, and negotiation. The large number of internship hours (720) allows students to get a good idea of the labour market during their studies, which has a significant impact on the further professional prospects of the graduates.

The studies not only offer knowledge of social and interpersonal communication, but above all shape communication skills and thus prepare competent press officers, negotiators, image consultants, and promotion specialists.

2ND CYCLE STUDIES

In 2nd cycle studies, students pursue a group of compulsory courses and a group of optional courses. The first group includes, among others, the following courses: Law in Social Communication, the Art of Public Speaking and Self-Presentation, Psychology of Communication, and Project Management. Also worth mentioning are the subjects taught in English: Crisis Communication and Intercultural Communication. The latter includes classes in cultural text analysis, creative writing workshops, digital tools in social communication, and economics and entrepreneurship.
