Slavonic Studies

The degree programme is addressed to people who wish to acquire language skills in any of the Slavonic languages (Czech, Croatian, Slovak, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serb or Slovenian) and become translators, or work in the tourism industry, cultural institutions, diplomatic posts, or companies cooperating with Slavonic countries such as the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Apart from learning a selected language, students will discover the history, literature and culture of selected Slavic countries, take part in classes in translation and interpreting, and will have been meticulously prepared in terms of language studies; students have various chances to put their knowledge and skills to the test (in particular language skills) by participating in numerous projects and trips abroad such as summer schools, traineeships and scholarship programmes, educational trips, and non-mandatory internship.

Practical classes in language and translation are conducted by sworn translators and native speakers from target Slavic countries.

Owing to the Erasmus+ programme for international exchange and bilateral agreements, students have a chance to enjoy scholarships, summer schools or internships in such countries as Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
