The Art of Writing
The Art of Writing degree programme is aimed at, on the one hand, people who tie their professional future with the media (newspaper and magazine editorial offices, websites, advertising agencies, publishing houses, etc.), and on the other hand, for all those who want to pursue an independent career as a writer or screenwriter.
The curriculum includes workshops conducted by academic teachers with many years of writing practice and professional, award-winning writers, poets and screenwriters (Anna Cieplak, Mikołaj Marcela, Grzegorz Olszański, Ingmar Villiqist and others). The Art of Writing also includes theoretical subjects providing basic knowledge of the history and theory of literature, linguistics, new media culture, storytelling and advertising poetics.
With such a curriculum, students will acquire the skills to create functional, journalistic and artistic texts and gain awareness of the functioning of various publishing workflow, contemporary media, the book market, literary life, and journalism in the era of the Internet. Participation in artistic projects carried out together with the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice will contribute to that as well.
The graduates will be prepared to work in editorial offices, press agencies, web portals, publishing houses, and the media services sector, but also as an independent author. Above all, they will better understand the world around them and will be able to creatively respond to the challenges we face in the 21st century.
