VINCI RELOADED – Dive into science | The Interdisciplinary International Silesian Summer School receives over PLN 600,000 in funding

We are delighted to announce that the VINCI RELOADED – Interdisciplinary International Silesian Summer School project submitted by the Faculty of Science and Technology has received PLN 661,100.00 in funding under the NAWA SPINAKER programme – intensive international education programmes.
The project manager is Agnieszka Nowak-Brzezińska, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. – Deputy Dean of the Faculty for Promotion and Development of the Faculty od Science and Technology..

Project duration
The project will be implemented between 1 September 2025 and 31 July 2026.

Project objective
The main objective of the project is to increase the quality of education of foreign students and to increase the attractiveness of the University of Silesia in Katowice among students from abroad through adaptation of the existing intensive international educational programmes  (IMPK) and implementation of one edition of a modified IMPK in English.

Target group
The target group consists of 25 foreign students who have completed at least 1 year of 1st cycle studies or are in the middle of their 2nd cycle studies (in computer science, chemical sciences, physical sciences, materials engineering, or related fields). They are young people, both from the EU as well as from outside the EU, interested in the research topics offered by IMPK.

Tasks
The Interdisciplinary International Silesian Summer School is an intensive 3-week program that includes the following for each participant:

  • 15 hours of lectures + 15 hours of self-study,
  • 30 hours of workshops + 30 hours of self-study, + 10 hours to prepare a presentation for the final exam,
  • 3 hours of interdisciplinary lectures within the leading discipline + 3 hours of self-study,
  • 4 hours of lectures with a foreign lecturer (online) + 4 hours of self-study,
  • 5 hours of Polish culture and language classes,
  • 5 hours of workshops + 2 hours of lectures at the SPIN-Lab Centre for Microscopic Research on Matter,
  • 8 hours study visit to the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre in Kraków,
  • 2 hours adaptation seminar.

Applications are accepted from 9 February to 8 March 2026. We invite students from EU and non-EU countries who have completed at least 1 year of 1st cycle studies or are currently enrolled in 2nd cycle studies (in computer science, chemical sciences, physical sciences, materials engineering, or related fields).
Financial support will be provided to participants in the form of a lump sum for travel expenses to Poland, living expenses, and accommodation, as well as a scholarship.

As part of the programme, participants will be awarded 5 ECTS credits (with the option of an additional 1 ECTS credit), confirmed by the obtained micro-credentials.
