We invite students of IT, data science, and technology-related fields to take part in the international HackoWatt hackathon.

This event is for those who want to explore in practice how artificial intelligence can support the energy transition and help solve real-world energy challenges.

During the hackathon, participants will work on a scenario inspired by a household using renewable energy sources. Based on datasets (including weather conditions, energy consumption, and grid load), they will design solutions to improve energy management, reduce costs, and lower CO₂ emissions.

This is not just theory but hands-on experience – the challenge has been developed in collaboration between the University of Silesia and Vattenfall, one of Europe’s largest producers and suppliers of electricity.

Participants at different levels of experience are welcome – from those just starting their journey with tech projects to more advanced students. No specialist knowledge in the energy sector is required.

Why join?

  • Work on a real-world problem instead of a theoretical task
  • Develop skills in AI, data science, and solution design
  • Gain experience in teamwork under conditions similar to real IT projects
  • Collaborate internationally and connect with industry experts
  • Build a project for your portfolio
  • Win prizes with a total value of nearly PLN 15,000

Where and when?

The hackathon will take place both onsite (Katowice) and online on 28 – 30 September 2026.
