INSTITUTE OF CHEMISTRY

ABOUT US
The employees of the Institute of Chemistry conduct and promote scientific research in the field of chemistry and chemical technology at a very high level and fully in line with current global trends. The research work they undertake is characterised by a variety of subjects, ranges and profiles, and is of both basic and applied character. It is also distinguished by interdisciplinarity, including in its area issues, knowledge and the latest achievements in the field of biology, medical sciences, materials engineering or computer science, etc.

Currently, the most important directions of scientific and research activity at the Institute of Chemistry are:

  • obtaining and testing new inorganic, organic and organometallic materials and nanomaterials with structure and properties adapted to specific applications in medical and biomedical technologies, catalysis, food industry, optoelectronics, organic electronics, photovoltaics as thermoelectric materials or molecular magnetic materials;
  • research on new nanocomposites and chemical modifications of graphene and their application in trace and ultra-trace inorganic analysis and environmental protection;
  • design and synthesis of potential drugs with high anti-cancer activity;
  • study of the subtle effects of the structure of molecular liquids and ionic liquids manifested in their high-pressure acoustic and thermodynamic properties as well as ultrasonic and viscous relaxation;
  • chemometric analysis of multidimensional and multimodal chemical data;
  • creating new methods and new computer programmes in the field of theoretical chemistry.
