„The Hero” in short films competition at Moscow Film Festival

The Hero is a diploma film of Milena Dutkowska, this year’s graduate of Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice. The film will compete for awards in the short film category at the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival taking place from 22 April to 29 April 2021. This is the only Polish film competing in the prestigious event. The international premiere of the film will take place on 27 April.

The Hero tells a story of Cyprian, a 10 year old orphan, who dreams of becoming a real hero. Igor Połaniewicz was responsible for the cinematography, and Ernest Małkiewicz for the production management. Krystyna Doktorowicz, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, Dean of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice is the film’s producer.

The festival’s short film competition this year features 14 films from all around the world, including two from Russia. The jury is chaired by Dénes Nagy, this year’s winner of the Silver Bear for Best Director for the film Natural Light at the 71st Berlinale.

The Moscow International Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. The event is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). The main prize is a golden statuette of St George. Since 1972, the competition has been classified by the FIAPF as a class A festival. Nikita Mikhalkov is the president of the festival since 1999.
