including the universities associated in „Transform4Europe – T4E” network, with renowned scientists,
as well as increasing the impact of scientific activity of the University on the development of global science,
Goals of Research Excellence Initiative
We want to shape the future of our University so that it matches the best universities in Poland and very good European universities soon. We will pursue this goal together by improving the quality of scientific research and education. We have also agreed to transform the Silesian Alma Mater into a research university, and the detailed actions are outlined e.g. in the Development Strategy of the University of Silesia in Katowice for 2020-2025.
We are launching the Research Excellence Initiatives to open funding opportunities for scientific research, publications, trainings and courses, software, trips, internships and purchase of key scientific, teaching and research infrastructure. We have also prepared a special offer for students and doctoral students.
The goals of Research Excellence Initiative are as follows:
creating suitable conditions for the professional development of employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice,
supporting scholars at all stages of their scientific development,
in particular building and improving research and teaching
competencies of research staff, including young scientists,
developing the potential of scientists for making significant scientific discoveries,
establishing and managing research teams
managing talents through active inclusion of students in the science and research process,
their participation in research projects and other initiatives,
intended for scientific development, building scientific output,
as well as dissemination and commercialisation of knowledge,
and in consequence improving the quality of their education
increasing the visibility and position of the University of Silesia in Katowice in the region, Europe and around the world,
with the support of employees who carry out comprehensive science communication activities
and perform interdisciplinary analyses
funding key artistic, research and educational infrastructure,
which enables to conduct intense research and scientific activity,
especially in Priority Research Areas
