University of Silesia in Katowice

The University of Silesia in Katowice is one of twenty Polish universities qualified for the prestigious call for proposals under the “Excellence initiative – research university” programme (IDUB), implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Thanks to the achieved position, our Alma Mater will receive under this programme additional financial support – subsidy increased by 2% in comparison to 2019. This creates the opportunity to take different actions leading to systematic development and improvement of the competencies of University of Silesia staff, and most importantly – to strengthen the position of the University as a research university.

The increased subsidy will be fully allocated to the implementation of Research Excellence Initiative, whose goal is to provide multi-layered support for the academic community, and in consequence, to ensure professional development of employees, improve the level of scientific research, and increase the University’s international recognition. The activities undertaken and implemented as part of Research Excellence Initiative are coherent with the Development Strategy at the University of Silesia in Katowice for 2020-2025.
