Zainteresowania badawcze:

Zainteresowania naukowe dr. hab. Adama Wojtaszka obejmują pragmatykę językową, kodowanie znaczenia, rejestry specjalistyczne, dyskurs reklamowy oraz język perswazji. Opublikował dwie książki na temat dyskursu reklamowego: Deciphering Radio Commercials – A Pragmatic Perspective (2002) oraz Theoretical Frameworks in the Study of Press Advertisements – Polish, British and Chinese Perspective (2011), a także liczne artykuły naukowe poświęcone temu tematowi. Wspólnie z prof. Danutą Gabryś-Barker pełni funkcję redaktora naczelnego czasopisma Theory and Practice of Second Language Acquisition (zał. 2015) wydawanego przez Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Śląskiego, indeksowanego przez SCOPUS. Jest wieloletnim współorganizatorem corocznej Międzynarodowej Konferencji na temat Przyswajania Języka Obcego / Drugiego (International Conference on Foreign / Second Language Acquisition – ICFSLA), jednej z największych konferencji poświęconych tym zagadnieniom w Polsce. Wypromował bardzo liczne grono licencjatów oraz magistrów, posiada również długoletnie doświadczenie w pracy z doktorantami oraz był recenzentem w kilku postępowaniach habilitacyjnych.

Research Interests:

The research interests of Adam Wojtaszek, PhD, D.Sc. encompass linguistic pragmatics, meaning encoding, specialised registers, advertising discourse and language of persuasion. He has published two books on advertising discourse: Deciphering Radio Commercials – A Pragmatic Perspective (2002) and Theoretical Frameworks in the Study of Press Advertisements – Polish, British and Chinese Perspective (2011), as well as a number of articles on the topic. Together with prof. Danuta Gabryś-Barker he acts as editor in chief of the SCOPUS-indexed journal Theory and Practice of Second Language Acquisition (est. 2015), published by the University of Silesia Press. He is one of the long-standing co-organisers of the annual International Conference on Foreign / Second Language Acquisition – ICFSLA, one of the leading conferences on the topic organised in Poland. He has extensive experience in supervising B.A, M.A. and PhD theses. He has also reviewed a number of post-doctoral degree applications.
