Usually during our integration meetings we sightsee and then have dinner together. This time we cooked together to not only “sightsee” but also to be a part of Polish culture, or, to be specific –Polish cuisine.
On the 3rd of March, the integration workshop for foreign employees has been organized in Pracownia Smaku Jolanty Kleser. It was the fifth integration meeting organized as a part of the Come2US project financed by the National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAWA).
We have decided to take our foreign employees from the lecture halls and laboratories to… the kitchen 🙂 But not to any kitchen. We have invited them to Pracownia Smaku Jolanty Kleser (Jolanta Kleser’s Taste workshop) where they had a chance to learn how to prepare a few Polish dishes – step by step. Although the actual menu was a secret till the last moment, a large group of participants appeared punctually in Pracownia. For a few hours an international team of cooks (among others from India, Vietnam, Ukraine, Hungary or Iraq) has prepared the starter, the main dish and the delicious dessert. Afterwards all dishes were served as a supper. Both preparing the dishes and joint meal were a great opportunity for the participants to get to know each other, to work together and to exchange information about their own national cuisine. We have left the workshop quite full, in good mood and with new practical knowledge of how to prepare pierogi and cheesecake.
We want to thank Pracownia Smaku Jolanty Kleser and all participants of the workshop for the great atmosphere of the meeting and for sharing the meal and information about their national cuisines with us as well.
