The University of Silesia has been involved in international projects for many years, cooperating with foreign universities and institutes, as well as employing foreigners. Since June 2023, the University has been implementing a project ‘Welcome2US—development of the servicing foreign staff potential of the University of Silesia in Katowice’. Its aim is to improve the quality of service for foreign employees and increase the attractiveness of the University as an employer for potential candidates from abroad.
The activities are addressed to current and future foreign employees.
Initiatives under the Welcome2US project include:
- organisation and maintenance of the co-working zone for foreign staff ‘USil Staff Meeting Point’,
- integration meetings for foreign employees #FeelWell@USil;
- trainings for employees from abroad #USilNewSkills,
- information and image campaign ‘International USil Ambassadors #USilExpirianceNET’,
- further professionalisation of target group service through the development of the Welcome Point,
- recording 10 #AroundUSil podcasts,
- organizing the #USilCareerDay— an online conference for scientists from around the world.
The project ‘Welcome2US— development of the potential of the University of Silesia in Katowice in the scope of support of the foreign employees.’, that will be implemented until the 31st of May 2025, is financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) as a part of the Welcome to Poland 2022 programme, which aims to develop competences related to increasing the level of internationalisation of universities.
