What do I do professionally?

I am working on producing novel materials and their applications in energy harvesting in portable devices. Also, I am interested in using sophisticated instrumental techniques, such as atomic force microscopy, to analyze materials’ surfaces. Studies carried out in this field ıs expected to be used in the future to produce electrical energy from human’s simple daily movements.

Everyone at the University of Silesia in Katowice is very kind and helpful to foreign researchers. They have always supported me in all the difficulties I have encountered so far. They also made me feel like I was in my own country with their warm approach.

My first day at work

When I first arrived at the office, my colleagues greeted me very politely. We toured the laboratories together. They introduced me to the devices I would be working on. They took me to the necessary places to get the phone line and bank account I needed in Poland. Then we all went to a restaurant for dinner. They made me feel like I was an important member of the team from the very first day.

What suprised me?

What surprised me the most was that most of the shopping malls and restaurants were closed on weekends. This is an unusual thing for me because, in my country, people mainly prefer shopping with family on Sundays.

What I like about Katowice?

ilesian Museum and Nikiszowiec gave me many ideas to understand the history of Katowice. Also Cafe Kattowitz is an ideal place to taste local delicacies.
