What do I do professionally?
I work in the International Admissions Office of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Our team helps candidates from abroad start their studies at our university. We conduct presentations for them, give information, and check their educational documents. Also, we need to be up-to-date with laws about higher education.
„
My work at the University of Silesia gives me the possibility to develop myself, learn about new countries, and meet different people. We organize trainings and meetings and participate in various events in Poland and abroad.
My first day at work
The first day of my work here was filled with a lot of new knowledge, getting to know my co-workers and structure of university.
What suprised me?
I was shocked that many people in Poland celebrated their name days, not birthdays. However, my Polish friends celebrate their birthdays. My country also has name days, but they appear only in calendars; people usually don’t even know when their name day takes place.
What I like about Katowice?
Katowice is a city that has everything you need to live comfortably. Infrastructure is well-developed, and there is no shortage of places to spend free time (many events are organized, such as parks, lakes, cinemas, and galleries). Katowice is well-connected with other Polish and European cities, so the “city break” is easy to organize also.
