expEDU – Experiments for Better Teaching in Higher Education

expEDU is an international project implemented by four universities from Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. The consortium consists of:

  • University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland)
  • Žilinská University in Žiline (Slovakia)
  • Vysoká škola Báňská – Technická Univerzita Ostrava (Czech Republic)
  • Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine)

The aim of the expEDU project is to improve the quality of academic education in the STEM field by developing modern and easily accessible experimental-based teaching materials. The project involves the production of 80 videos presenting experiments in physics and chemistry, along with detailed instructions for use during academic classes. All materials will be created in five languages and adapted to the needs of individuals with special needs. The initiative supports innovative teaching methods, the development of academic staff’s teaching skills, and increased access to education – even at universities with limited technical resources. The project also includes study visits, workshops, seminars, and conferences that will facilitate the exchange of best practices and strengthen international cooperation, particularly crucial in the context of supporting the partner Ukrainian university.

The results of expEDU will benefit not only lecturers and students of science, but also teachers and future educators, promoting a modern, engaging, and experiential approach to teaching STEM subjects.
