On October 1, 2025, the community of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia gathered for the inauguration ceremony to mark the start of the new academic year.
The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Witold Kurowski, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, who officially welcomed new students of the Faculty of Law and Administration.
Next, the Dean of the Faculty, Witold Kurowski, Ph, DLitt, Associate Professor, solemnly thanked the retiring employees for their many years of effort, great commitment, and passion that were put into educating generations of students.
An important part of the ceremony was the presentation of awards — the Prof. Walerian Pańka Award was given for outstanding academic achievements and exceptional commitment to the faculty, as well as the Prof. Oktawia Górniok Award for an extraordinary master’s thesis.
The Rector’s Awards for research, organizational, and teaching achievements were also presented.
We cannot overlook the Golden Paragraphs Poll, organized by the Student Council of the Faculty of Law and Administration. Statuettes were awarded in four categories: Supervisor, Lecturer, Student Research Group Advisor, and Teacher.
The ceremony was graced by an inaugural lecture by prof. Jadwiga Glumińska-Pawlic entitled “Does excise duty discourage smoking and drinking?”
