Women of 4 cultures – piano music by female composers from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Germany

| Agata Hołdyk, PhD |

Musical notation is one of the most perfect forms of recording ever invented by humans. The amount of information included in a single stave is much bigger than in a line of spoken text. This kind of record has no gender, because… music has no gender either.

In my research work I present the piano music composed by women from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Germany. The lecture entitled ‘Women of 4 Cultures’ presents female firmness, power and creativity. The goal of the project was to explore the subject dedicated to the female gender and to promote the music of Transform4Europe alliance partner countries, and in consequence to increase the cultural awareness between the partners.

The project was co-financed under the „Freedom of Research” call for proposals within the Research Excellence Initiative programme.
