We are happy to inform that Prof. Przemysław Marciniak and Prof. Johannes Pahlitzsch (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz) received a grant awarded by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The project was funded within the Research Group Linkage Programme. The tool is to create a space for long-term international academic cooperation between graduates of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation programmes and scientists in Germany.

The three-year programme (2022-2025) entitled “Die Byzantiner und die Natur” (The Byzantines and nature) amounts to € 55,000 and involves cooperation with the Institute of Byzantine Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. It is devoted to the research on animals and nature in the Byzantine culture (330-1543).
The actions planned within the grant include organisation of workshops in Katowice, international conference in Mainz, and foreign study grants for the members of Przemysław Marciniak research group.
