Health literacy of (vice-)principals of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic
We will diagnose the health literacy of (vice-)principals of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.
keywords: health literacy, COVID-19 pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic affected all aspects of social life. Preventive measures undertaken in majority of countries were identical with one of them being closing educational institutions. The situation had a significant impact on the entire school community’s functioning, and the managers of these units suffered especially heavy costs.
From the management staff’s point of view, the perspective of showing the scale of problems and challenges related to the necessity of replacing the traditional model of education with the remote model will be the base for developing an adaptation and support model for managers of educational units regarding quick changes connected with an occurrence of crisis situations. Current research indicates the high level of stress related to school unit management, along with its psychological and physical consequences. This situation has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The research is carried out within the international consortium COVID-HL Network (COVID-19 and Health Literacy [covid-hl.eu]). The developed methodology concept establishes carrying out parallel research among school managers in several dozens of countries around the world based on an identical questionnaire; thus, results comparability on an international level is ensured. The research is executed among principals and vice-principals of primary and secondary schools in 8 voivodeships in Poland via an Internet questionnaire on the LimeSurvey platform.
