ADAPTATION

University of Silesia is the employer who understands the needs of its new employees as well as the importance of the proper adaptation to work in a new place. New environment, new responsibilities, new co-workers and culture may be problematic if they are not explained. Therefore, we have a set of regulations ensuring that the newly employed learn everything they need. And, what is important, our present employees are approachable and open to any answer questions and share information that make the new person feel welcome. The first step to learn about the university is training for the newly employed that takes place online, on the Teams platform in Polish and English. The HR Department provides support in setting up the e-mail account and answering questions. Materials from the training are made available to the newly employed. This information as well as good work atmosphere contributes to the good start of the new job.

We are also aware that coming from abroad to work in Poland makes it even more difficult to adapt in a new place. Both Polish culture and the university culture are something new, and often confusing. University of Silesia employs around 60 foreign employees and provides support if it is needed. Since October, as a part of project ”Come2US professionalization and centralization of support of the foreign employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice”, financed by the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAWA), we have also opened the Welcome Point for the employees from abroad. Its task is to help the foreign employees of the University to understand Polish culture, to support them in collecting necessary documents for public offices, and to help them feel good at work.

University of Silesia is a good place to work and Poland is a beautiful country. Would you like to work with us? Check your job offer. Maybe we are looking for you! Do not hesitate and come2us!
