We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hab. Jacek Szczygieł, Professor of the University of Silesia, and Prof. Dr. Hab. Jerzy Żaba are co-authors of the monograph “Geological Structure of Poland. Volume 2: Tectonics”, published in 2026 by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute.
The new volume continues the long-running series “Geological Structure of Poland”, whose origins date back to the 1960s. As emphasized in the introductory chapter, this publication appears more than 50 years after the first editions of the series, which for decades served as a fundamental reference and standard source of knowledge on Poland’s geology for successive generations of geoscientists. The new volume therefore represents both an update and an extension of this classic and widely cited work, incorporating the latest advances in geological and geophysical research.
The monograph was prepared by a large team of researchers from numerous national and international scientific institutions and constitutes one of the most comprehensive contemporary syntheses of Poland’s tectonic framework. The book is available in Open Access here https://www.pgi.gov.pl/oferta-inst/wydawnictwa/ksiazki/naukowe-i-metodyczne/17094-budowa-geologiczna-polski-tom-2-tektonika-2026.html
