Aquamatics – Interdisciplinary Management of Water Environments

Water is the most important element of the environment influencing the functioning of ecosystems and societies; it is the basic constituent of ecosystems as well as material for direct consumption and industrial use. Management of water environments requires extensive knowledge in natural sciences, social sciences and engineering and technology. The degree programme is to educate competent water managers that play a crucial role in their workplace.

The degree programme puts emphasis on the skill of using IT tools that allow them to navigate through the GIS and CAD systems, use databases, create maps and graphics illustrating issues related to water. Students acquire the skill of recognising plants and animals related to water environments. As future employees of water institutions, they will be able to operate water equipment and use unmanned aircrafts to gather data necessary to water management.

An important element of education will be project classes aiming at teaching students how to effectively complete tasks assigned to them. During such classes, students carry out field research having measurement equipment at their disposal.
