On 27 December 2021, the winners of the 27th Polish Poster Biennale were announced. The event has been organised in Katowice since 1965 and is the largest and oldest poster art competition in Poland and Europe.

Among the artists recognised in the competition were three people associated with the University of Silesia. The bronze medal for the poster entitled “Jazz’n’Roll” was awarded to Tomasz Kipka, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor. The award sponsored by the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice went to Łukasz Kliś, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, for his poster entitled “Pomimo” (Despite). Kaja Renkas, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, won the award sponsored by the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław for her poster entitled “InterFilm2”.

The competition jury reviewed the works of 172 authors. The jury included, among others, Sebastian Kubica, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science.

An exhibition of the awarded works will be on display at the BWA Contemporary Art Gallery in Katowice from 28 December 2021 to 27 February 2022. You can find a list of all the awarded works on the gallery’s website.
