The latest edition of the Web of Universities Ranking (Webometrics) lists 32,000 institutions related to higher education from around the world, including over 400 from Poland. The University of Silesia in Katowice ranked 12th in the country. This is an increase of 4 positions compared to the last ranking. We took 2nd place in the region.
We also advanced internationally, ranking 1,110th in the world – the highest since July 2022. Compared to the last edition of the ranking (January 2024), this is an increase of 53 places.
We noted particular improvement in the Impact indicator, which measures the number of links on the Internet leading to the website of a given institution. A higher Impact factor indicates a higher reputation for our site. In this category, we advanced 177 positions, taking 1215th place.
In the latest edition of Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar profiles, the University of Silesia occupies a high, 6th position in the country.
The Webometrics ranking has been published twice a year since 2004 by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) – the Supreme Council of Scientific Research in Madrid. Its main goal is to promote the presence of academic and research institutions on the Internet and to support all open access projects.
