The National Science Centre has announced the list of scientists whose research projects have received funding within the SONATA BIS 14 call for proposals. The list features Jakub Spiechowicz, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. (USil Institute of Physics) and Mariola Paruzel-Czachura, PhD (USil Institute of Psychology).
The project coordinated by J. Spiechowicz from A. Chełkowski Institute of Physics entitled ‘Non-equilibrium thermodynamics of the diffusion anomalies’ has received funding of PLN 1,625,650.00. As we can read in the description, the project team will attempt to answer a fundamental question that still puzzles contemporary statistical physicists, i.e. what are the thermodynamic consequences of diffusion anomalies, and whether their occurrence can be beneficial for the functioning of a biological cell.
On the other hand, Mariola Paruzel-Czachura, PhD, coordinates the project entitled ‘Does a good drink make bad people? Impact of alcohol on values, emotions and moral behaviour’ with the funding of PLN 2,666,378.00. The project goal is to understand how and why alcohol changes people. The results of the research are to help in the development of a public health policy and interventions that are to decrease alcohol-related harm.
