Katarzyna Wyrwas, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice reached the final of the 20th edition of the Popularizer of Science competition in the Scientist category.
The jury composed of representatives of the scientific community, science communicators and representatives of the Nauka w Polsce (Science in Poland) portal selected 23 people, teams and institutions from among 94 applications. The competition results will be announced in December 2024.
The Popularizer of Science competition is financed from state budget funds allocated by the Minister of Education and Science under the Social Responsibility of Science II Programme.
In the previous editions of the competition, the winners included: Jerzy Jarosz, PhD, Assoc. Prof. – coordinator of the Children’s University of Silesia, Jacek Szymik-Kozaczko – spokesperson for the University of Silesia and Magdalena Ochwat, PhD. The following initiatives were also awarded: Przystanek Nauka (Science Station) – a popular science website of the University of Silesia and the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE.
