About ESOF – EuroScience Open Forum 2024
It is the largest conference in Europe dedicated to interdisciplinary and cross-sectional debate on scientific culture, scientific research, and innovations developed for and with the society.
In June 2024, Katowice – the European City of Science 2024 – will host the event. The participants will be invited to the International Congress Centre in Katowice. The event will be accompanied by European Talent Fair – an initiative to which students, young scientists, start-ups, industry people, and investors will be invited for the purpose of promoting talented young people and employment opportunities in the research sector across the European Union.

‘Life changes science’ is the leading theme of ESOF 2024. The conference programme will be dedicated to the following areas:
- energy transformation,
- sustainable environment,
- cultural identity and social transformations,
- changes within scientific excellence,
- healthy society,
- digital transformation.
The ESOF conference has been organised since 2004. The city awarded the European City of Science title is the host of each respective edition. To date, the European City of Science title has been received by Stockholm, Munich, Barcelona, Turin, Dublin, Copenhagen, Manchester, Toulouse, Trieste, and Leiden.
The recruitment of proposed presentations and posters will be launched in the autumn of 2023.
ESOF 2024 main purposes:
- supporting the dialogue on science, technology, innovations, society, and scientific policies through the platform for interaction and interdisciplinary exchange
- presenting breakthrough scientific and technological solutions in all areas of science, including in natural sciences, medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities
- providing valuable opportunities for the beginning researchers, including establishment of contacts and career advisory
- the use of the potential of Silesian universities and research conducted in the region in the field of their direct influence on positive transformation processes in Silesia
- opportunities for establishing new contacts, networking, and using professional advisory for young researchers beginning their scientific career
- possibility of interaction and exchange of thoughts between scientists from different disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity to present breakthrough scientific and technological solutions in all areas of knowledge that are significant for sustainable development, such as natural sciences, medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences and humanities
